trying to play records through my don't receiver via Samsung soundbar

I don't see an optical out on the receiver just a sat, bd and tv in. I see 1 HDMI out but that's doing nothing either. not sure what to do

You will get much better results if you connect real speakers to your receivers, instead of these SBs. Advanced units have audio out, usually RCA L/R. You can get optical out from HDMI port, by connecting HDMI Audio extractor.

If you really need to connect line-in of Samsung to the receiver, you'll need a converter from speaker output to line level.

Most AV receiver do not have any audio outputs. If your turntable has a built in phono preamp you could connect an analog to digital converter to provide an optical output for the soundbar,

If your soundbar has an aux input then you won't need it. Just a cable.
