So i've just built my new pc but i cant get it up and running because i cant get windows on it. this is stressing me out so much, i have been trying to do this for literally like 2 days doing so many searches on google and cant find anything other than "download this windows tool, browse for the iso file and click next...." but i cannot find the .iso file anywhere.... I've tried installing the win7 with the setup.exe from the download but still no .iso file? seriously if anyone could help with this it would VERY much appreciated. Also i have not disc drive in my new pc.

What OS did you purchase for this new PC?
Do you an ISO file of this?

Download the Windows 7 iso image of your choice (the link I provided is for the Home Prem. isos direct from Microsoft, the others can be downloaded from DigitalRiver if you need), and use an iso to USB writer like Rufus to create a bootable flash drive with the Windows 7 installer. Boot to the flash drive to install. Whether or not the install works can depend on the type and distributor of the key that you (hopefully) bought.

EDIT
I'm not recommending DigitalRiver and prefer that KeenPha get the iso that his key is meant for, or if he can, get the iso from Microsoft. DigitalRiver was meant as a last resort suggestion, as their isos are clean (at least in my experience)

1. You can only download the Windows 7 ISO if you have a valid, retail license key
2. The DigitalRiver concept is long gone. Discontinued ages ago

I have windows 7 homepremium 64bit key. I downloaded an iso file from here - http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-7-home-premium-free-download-iso-32-bit-64-bit/

And you purchased the license key from where?
(That 'getintoPC' is in no way a valid source)

If you have a valid license key, go direct to Microsoft and download the ISO file
Here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery

Report back here with the results of getting that download.

The download from getintoPC installed windows fine, but i still couldnt find an iso file. I will try your way when i get back from work today. thanks

No mate, i dont have an iso image that is what im trying to figure out...

so this file i have downloaded... when i extract it do i need to run the setup.exe install it on this pc, type my code in and then get the .iso file? or should the .iso file be there after i have downloaded it? basically do i need to reinstall windows 7 on this pc to get the iso

Let's back up to the start:

You have a new PC, right?
You have Windows 7 to install on it, right?
You want the end state to be Windows 10, right?

If the above is correct, you must:
1. install Windows 7
2. Activate it with your license key
3. Let it run ALL the existing updates.
4. Once all that is done, either Reserve Windows 10 and wait, or go here and download the mediaCreation tool from Microsoft.
This MediaCreation tool will, if all the above is correct, allow you to download an ISO file for Windows 10.
This, you burn onto a DVD or USB stick.

You then start up your PC, in Windows 7, navigate to the setup.exe on that Windows DVD that you burned, and run that. This will Upgrade your valid, activated, qualifying Windows 7 to Windows 10.

I'm not sure what you have or have not already done, but that list of steps will work.

Forgot your link
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Yup, that link for step 4.

Ok just to clarify. I have two PCs, the one i'm using now has a SETUP to install windows 7. If i run the setup on this pc and use the validation code surely windows 7 will only be usable on this pc?

Just to clarify...if you have 2 PC's, and one OS license...you cannot do this.
You need to purchase a whole new OS for your second PC.

You cannot use the same license key on 2 different PC's.

i thought that would have been obvious otherwise how would i be able to put an .iso file onto a USB? I need to get windows 7 on the new pc that has no OS atm....

ALSO i have no disk drive on the new pc... i only have the key code, no disk.

Bottom line...you need a whole new OS license for your new PC. There is no way around this.
The license is the part that costs. Install media is trivial.

If you have a second, valid license key that is not used anywhere else....
Go here - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery
Input your currently unused license key, and maybe it will allow you to download the ISO file.

Come back and report after you've tried this.

what do you mean OS license? I have the unused key.. I have been told by many people that i can download an .iso file of windows 7, put it on a USB, plug the usb into new pc, run usb from boot, install windows 7 and type the key in.

The link I mentioned above (and here again http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery) will allow you do obtain the relevant Windows 7 ISO.
Go do this.

my key is not working on this website... I know it is 100% unused as well. is there anywhere else i can get an iso file ? -.-

1. What does it say?
2. Where did you obtain this license key?

I do not know if this applies to you, but if you have an OEM key (like from Dell or Toshiba or ASUS), then you will need that manufacturer's OEM Windows 7 installer. This is often the case if you did not buy the key from Microsoft directly, but maybe from ebay or Amazon, etc. Where did you get the key and is it OEM?

"We encountered a problem with the validation request. Please assure your product key is for a product supported by this site and was entered correctly, then try your request again."

From a friend and the scratcher bit had not yet been scratched off so i know it is unused.
