Yeah I am excited to see what is in my old 200GB hard Drive from 2005 that is half full. i bought the adapter from amazon. I think the pin is in correct place.

So i labeled drive. It saved itself as System Reserve Drive (D: )

When i go to open it, it just shows nothing in it, just blank.

I do think it was mainly only windows xp on it. I am not sure if i ever ran it as windows 7.

Pin is supposed to be on SL? trying to read it on windows 7 computer.

Also just noticed I think maybe i am doing something wrong as it says 69mb out of 100mb.. So its not even viewing as gigabytes lol.

Solution
Drive should be on Cable Select (MS = Master) (SL = Slave) (CS = Cable Select)

On WD Drives, if I recall correctly, Cable Select is usually the jumper completely removed. But I think WD drives have 10 pins. Can't quite tell what brand that is from the bottom.

I must say that looks like a very poorly made adapter. Those solder joints all look cold. And there is rosin residue everywhere.

Might try a USB to adapter like this one, also be more universal: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002&cm_re=SATA_to_USB-_-12-232-002-_-Product

Solution
If it is powering up and spinning that is a good sign. Adapters aren't truly universal, but I have had more luck with the USB ones then any other type.

Other option would be a true PATA disk controller expansion card. They can be pretty cheap as well.

You have it properly connected. First place to look would be in the BIOS to see if it shows up there. If it shows up there and not in Windows then it is likely missing a driver. The manufacturer's website might have a download section you should look through, but HDE doesn't seem to have any information on who made it, so, not a good sign.

If you look under Computer Management -> Disk Management you might see the drive. You then might be able to assign it a drive letter. (If not it is probably completely corrupt)

If the drive is formatted for FAT32 or NTFS it should read on a Windows system. If the disc is corrupt and you don't really know what is on it, it would be hard to get it to read. You would have to dive into a lot of tools to see if there is a recoverable partition and that isn't really knowledge that can be communicated through a forum.

You may have gotten ripped off for the $5. (Their picture on Amazon shows much better construction then the one you ended up with)

I am going to try it on different pc. Mine is confusing because its modular and the sata/perp connector has missing pins. The Drive i swore was spinning before and now its not :/ it might of kicked the bucket.

Thanks for your help. i fried my pcb board i think. So i found exact word for word doner. just $10 and bought it. if doesn't work oh well. But i am pretty sure it just took too long and i fried it. it doesn't spin like it did earlier today.
