Trying to recover my Windows 8.1 Pro Product Key.

Hi guy's.

First I just want to say what an amazing forum this is, so many solutions to pc problems I've been able to get a pc fix a few times thanks to TOMS HARDWARE..

I recently stupudly wanted to downgrade my operating system to Windows Vista,
but when I realized how laggy it was, I went back to Windows 8. now I couldn't find the link to use to upgrade to 8.1 PRO!!. I've also lost my product key for it... however my Windows.002 folder remains intact. which had PRO installed on. But non of the key recovery tools will find it..

When I use Jelly Beam I get the following error.
Can not load registry hive, from directory path, The system can not find the
path specified. I am really lost for hope 🙁. Can anyone help me recover this key?.

Or is their a way to re-install the windows 8.1 pro using the Windows.002 folder?

Where is the sticker for your windows 8???

As far as upgrading to 8.1, that was a short term update and microsoft closed that down. If you dont have disc/license key for it then you might be stuck on windows 8.0

I failed to mention that my original machine was a VISTA HOME basic machine.
I bought a 8.1 pro key. microsoft haven't closed it, as it's still in the store..

Tom's Hardware terms of service prevents any sort of password hacking or bypassing. Your best hope would be to contact Micro$oft.

How do we know that? There are all kinds of sob stories on here: " I lost/forgot my password can you help me out to bypass it ?" None of which can we do more than offer advice that doesn't conflict with the terms of service of Tom's.

Because he never asked ANYBODY for a license key, in ANY way. He's simply asking how to recover HIS license. You shouldn't jump to conclusions no matter how many idiots with sob stories we see here. Once they cross that line, fine, until then, take a Prozac.
