Trying to reset windows 8.1 not working

So i want to reset my pc with windows 8.1 on it. I first got the error of there are some files missing, so i looked on the internet and i found out that i had to make an usb recovery drive. I did this by following this guide http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-usb-recovery-drive i've done it about 10 times now. And it's just not working. It says it's not valid or somthing i have also tried multiple usb sticks and i went into bios so that i would go into recovery mode. When i was in recovery mode i pressed reset pc and then my screen turns black. I've left it on for an entire night and nothing happend.
