So, a few years ago I only had one old HDD and a brand new SSD they worked fine with my SSD being backup but one morning I got blue screen of death I tried clicking repair multiple times didn't work so I kept trying the wipe drive option that didn't work either eventually I turned off and unplugged everything bought a brand new SSD and managed to get a windows copy to work fast forward to a few days ago I was wondering if I could get the old files off of my HDD drive it's stuck inside of my case cause I was a dumb child so external plugging it in won't work I know a lot of people have plugged in there old drives and just boot via there current system and then format the drive to work but I'm pretty scared I want my files back but, I only have one pc I can't afford an entire new system

Is presumably "dead" HDD seen in BIOS and Device manager ?

I don't unfortunately remember and I got the story a bit wrong acutally my old HDD was turned into an external drive and it was my SSD that was brand new in a pre-build that got corrupted and got blue screen of death I ended up contacting the pre-build company and got a new SSD sent and used my usb to install windows but I was too scared to hook up my old HDD drive after everything had happened. I would think plugging it back in would be okay there was no operating system on it but I'm still pretty scared something is going to happen in BIOS or when I boot it

Well, you must find out those things first and that's by plugging it in. If it didn't have OS on it nothing could possibly change in BIOS. It will either see it or not.

You won't know what's going on unless you look. It's hard to provide much assistance if you can only tell us vague recollections of the problem and pretty much no specifics. The first step of recovering your data is attaching it to the PC and telling us what you see.

If you're afraid to do anything with it, then the only choice is to pay a lab to try and recover the data. This can be very expensive, but neglecting making proper backups tends to be a very expensive thing to do. If data is important, it ought to be treated as if it's important.
