I have been trying to set up 3 monitors on at my dad's home office- let's just say struggle is my new word right now 🙁

My dad has a dell desktop. It has been running 2 monitors for a few years and never been a problem. I decided to add the 3rd one once I purchased the 3rd one it came with a USB cord, a display port cord, and a VGA cord. There is a spot for HDMI which I purchased. I spoke with someone from Dell regarding a new graphics card and they assured me this one would work fine - AMD RADEON HD 6450. There are spots for VGA, DVI, and HDMI which is what I have plugged into all of them and it reads all of them however, it won't actually display on all 3. I can use either one but can only have 2 a time. I have tried a display port to HDMI and it stops reading the 3rd monitor. I have watched more YouTube videos and read more articles on this than I ever wanted to in my life. I have spoken with a couple people that have 3+ monitors but all their answers are "oh just buy this adapter and it should work"- I have tried 3 different types of adapters and they just cause it to not read the third monitor. I went to Best Buy 2 weeks ago and the "Geek Squad" said that the adapter (DisplayPort to HDMI) that I had in my hand should work fine...and the answer to that is NOPE.

I have looked at numerous settings and thought I had them all changed. Under the screen resolution screen- it shows 3 monitors but it always says that one monitor under multiple displays is "disconnect monitor" if I switch this for all 3 to "extend display", one of the screens shuts off. It won't allow all 3 to be "extend monitor to this display"

I know this is alot of detail but I'm beyond frustrated here and am hoping with all this detail maybe I can get some help. Thank you in advance!!

Are any of the ones you tried active adapters? Passive adapters won't work.
