Trying to set up a vpn to get around school firewall

Hey, I’m trying to get around a vpn block that is on my school WiFi/ Internet. I have set up my own vpn with a raspberry pi with no problem. There is this one app called Sky VPN that is able to get past this vpn block. I would like to set up my own vpn server that will use the same protocol. All of the protocols that I’ve tried have failed. But this sky vpn app seems to get by. Any help?
