I have a laptop W10 (wireles) and a new Desktop PC W11 connected to my wireless router. I have right clicked on a folder and gone to Give access to. The name of the USER is in a drop down box to gether with Eveyone and create a user.

I should see the other PC in this list shouldn't I ?

Years ago when I worked in a company, you had a server with folders of others to pick from. I don't want to give access to the entire contents just one (maybe 2) folders.

Can someone help me here. Both are connected to my own secure wirless router. Shouldent be too dificult. Maybe another step needed.

Just a thought Read only access!

I think I might be on to something here. On the W11 Desktop. I went to share a folder and selected everyone. I clicked on share and have got \\DESMOND11\_#Shared

I need to be able to pick this up and put it on my laptop destop. So this must mean that I have to invoke sharing on the laptop [Not a folder on this] and pick from a drop down list.

I think I need to open ntworking to see networked file. and pick an available networked folder.

Gone to FileExplorer on Laptop and found a folder Networked. I can see my wireless printer in there but not the shared folder.

So the situation now is. I have a folder on my W11 Desktop and it is seen as \\DESMOND11\_#Shared. I open the network within file explorer on the laptop. All I see is the printer. Also there is an issue with the sharing of the folder on the desktop. I picked everyone from the drop down list. Should the laptop not have been visible in the drop down list. Seems that my laptop is not available.

Not sure about the meaning of "I need to be able to pick this up and put it on my laptop destop."

"Move"? Or some other drag & drop of files.....?

Moving folders and files can run afoul of permissions.

I would expect that you would create a shortcut on the laptop pointing back to the shared folder on the folder's host desktop.

Or perhaps even map that shared folder as a network drive.
