Hi!

I am trying to create something and it's seems not to work. I have been to many forums and nobody can help me yet.

I usually have a ethernet cable going through my TV cable box to my Xbox to share the internet connection from upstair(my modem is upstair) and I use this because my wifi signal is very LOW (getting around 3mbits for a 30mbits connections)

This is working and always have been a great solution.

Now the problem is I always have to unplug the wire from the xbox to the playstation to switch my connection. I have tough of installing a router and sharing the connection. This solution have also worked for WIRED connection via a bridge connection from the cable box to the router.

My problem is, I would also like that the wifi from the router to work. The wifi is working, but the internet connection IS NOT shared via wifi.

Anyone have any idea why? If this possible at all?

Thank you!

I would try and switch which channel your wifi is broadcasting on, the channel it is currently broadcasting on might have interference which can cause slow speeds. If you already have a ethernet cable ran do to your tv and you dont want to unplug it to switch between your xbox and playstation I would look into a putting a small switch behind your tv this way both the xbox and playstation can be plugged in. For gaming you will get way better performance using a wired connection over a wireless connection.

Hi, this is what I am doing if you read my original post. The wired is working fine. The wifi of the downstairs router is not sharing the internet this is the problem

OK this idea is king of a shot in the dark. If you can see the SSID of your wifi and can connect to it but you can't get internet access, is there any setting in dd-wrt to set your wireless network to a vlan. I know some routers that have a normal SSID and a guest SSID will use a vlan for network separation.

Hi again... Yesterday i came back home from work. I was one thing in mind. Make this thing work. I did everything like I always try. 30 30 30 reboot, Router ip adress 192.168.2.254 sub 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.2.1 DHCP off and wifi in AP mode. I also tried what you said about creating a VLAN. Well guess what IT WORKED. I was so happy. I did some tweaking removed the VLAN and it still worked. I didn't know why it worked but it DID.

Well guess what, I woke up 5 hours later, the wifi is not working anymore. I cannot recreate what I did last night. This is really starting to bug me, like REALLY, I have NO IDEA why this is not working 1 day and working the other one. When I tried to connect this morning instead of getting a IP in the 192.168.2.X on the laptop it was getting 169.254.253.248 and it was not on the gateway...

If you unplug the buffalo and plug in say a laptop can you get internet through the laptop over the cord? IF you can then I would say place the router into bridge mode and take it out of router mode. Also I might be wrong but the ethernet port on that Motorola might be to connect the the to the internet, I don't know if it will act as a cable modem.
