Trying to transfer Win7 to SSD From HHD

so i am following this guide to transferring windows from hhd to ssd but stuck on getting my 500gb hhd down be enough to fit on the ssd? any ideas ive deleted asmuch as i think i can

You need to reduce your current total used space to below 100GB.

whats it mainly made up of? ie got a load of video or anything taking up a lot of space?

ive deleted all my videos pictures documents movies etc. Not sure what else i can delete :/

My "Windows" file is 44gb but cannot delete that.
its weird because my Local Disk only amounts to 60gb so where the rest of it is i dont know.

Attempting to clone to a "120GB" drive requires the total used space to be below 100GB.
Go here, and see what is using your space

try downloading and running windirstat to see whats using it all

also run disk clean up

once you figure that out

i would make a partition on C drive large enough for what you want to keep--move what you want to keep there

then use macrium to clone ONLY the C partition not the whole drive to the ssd

then you could wipe the C part of the hard drive and expand the partition you made to fill the 500gb to give you 500gb of storage space

Did a disk clean up- hardly anything.
this is the result of the Windirstat is -
Windows- 42GB
Files- 14GB pagefile.sys (7.9gb) hiberfil.sys (6gb)
Users- 11gb
Program data- 11gb

System restore takes a lot of space. Delete all but your last save point.
Hiberfil also takes a lot of space. Not needed unless you put your computer to sleep instead of turning it off.

Shadow copy or VSS also takes up a lot of drive space. Turn off service. delete files.

Which specific application are you using to attempt this cloning operation?
Most of the recent ones will simply ignore useless things like temp files, pagefiles, hibernation, etc.

Was using
EaseUS but now going to try Macrium

Ok so Got down to enough to clone HOWEVER at 16% i got the message "clone falied, broken pipe"
any ideas 🙁

run error checking on the drive disk errors are usually what causes that message
