Hello all,

I have a very specific problem. I built my pc about 6 years ago and am now looking into upgrading ram and GPU mostly. Right now this is my computer: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QWqMD3 with the exception that I have an SSD instead now. I want to upgrade my ram to DDR4 but my motherboard does not support DDR4 ram only DDR3, problem with this is that there exists no motherboard that supports both DDR4 ram and FM2+ CPU sockets. Also the GPU I want to buy is a Geforce RTX 2060, which requires a 500W power supply and I only have a 430W power supply. I have been unable to find a 500W power supply that fits into a microATX case. So basically my 2 options are to stay at DDR3 and just upgrade to better clock speed and more GB and get the Geforce RTX 2060 (I really want ray tracing for future games) and get a 500W+ power supply and just keep it on top of the case (is this even a viable solution?). Or i can get DDR4 ram, get Geforce RTX 2060, a new 500W power supply, a new motherboard, a new CPU and a (probably) regular ATX case (so just replace everything except storage and sell my old pc). Any advice on any of this would help tremendously!! thank you.

Using pcpartpicker i havent been able to find a power supply that is compatible with my microatx case that is over 500W am i missing something?
This should work (came up with compatible PSU's when I put in your case).

FM2 is a dead end. Don't spend any money on it. You already have the top-end CPU for that motherboard. You will have to replace CPU/Motherboard/RAM as a package to get any improvement.
So any recommendations for CPU/Motherboard where i wouldnt have to spend over $200 on both. I already have some RAM that i can get cheap from a friend thats XPG Z1 DDR4 3000MHz (2x8GB) and im really set on getting an RTX GPU for the ray tracing, so for 500W+ power supply what CPU/Motherboards do you think would be good?

What is your budget?

Besides the case & HDD there's nothing else I'd reuse from that system.
At the moment I'd love to save money but i really want a RTX GPU so thats a must for the 2060 and . I already have some RAM that i can get cheap from a friend thats XPG Z1 DDR4 3000MHz (2x8GB) so basically need a motherboard, cpu, and power supply. I would love to keep it under $200 for the motherboard and cpu combo if possible.

$200 would be enough for the CPU & Motherboard and that memory should work fine.

Although if possible, spend a bit more for this unit as it's better quality.

For the most part it's accurate.

Do you already have that SSD?

If not grab this instead, slightly more storage but faster and cheaper.

Is that a M.2 or M.2 Sata drive? if its not Sata then ill definitely pick that one up instead.
Also another question if i buy a lower end CPU will i be bottlenecking the GPU for instance the AMD Ryzen 3 2200G 3.5 GHz Quad core Processor?

M.2 NVMe.

Depends on the resolution/game. The 2200G/3200G would be fine with the iGPU at 720P but if you were to game at 1080P I'd get something like the RX 580.
