So today I went to upgrade my cpu from an i3 8350k to an i7 9700k. When removing the i3 I went to go clean something next to the socket with a cottonball. Big mistake. Bits of the cottenball fell between the pins and I spent so much time trying to remove it. After trying to remove all of it ( i think i got around 90% of it ) i noticed a single pin that was very slightly bent compared to the others. Thinking it wouldn’t make a difference, i placed the i7 and turned it on. My kbm turned on, but I got no display. So i thought it might be a bios thing. So I went to swap it out, and place my i3 in there. And now it does the same thing. Tried removing cmos battery and nothing. Please help 😭

Magnifying glass and a pin. I've you have a good camera you can take a photo and zoom in to see the issue. Like you I wrecked a socket by putting the stupid blanking plate on the wrong side of the clamp, should not have been possible 😡

Hey there,

Can you link a picture to the post showing the cotton residue. It shouldn't be that difficult to take off. When using the cotton bud, did you use ISO to help remove the gank? Or was it a dry cotton bud?
