Trying to upgrade from AMD Sempron 1200-LE to and AMD Phenom II x4 840t

Hello, I'm new to Tom's Hardware and I really need some help. I currently have an HP computer from 2009 that has a single core AMD Sempron 1200-LE and I am trying to upgrade to an AMD Phenom II x4 840t. I already bought the CPU as I checked HP's website to check if the CPU would be compatible and it said it was. Now that I have the CPU in my hands, everytime I stick it into the socket of the OEM Pegatron M2N68-LA Motherboard it won't show anything on the display. I'm not sure why it's not working and how to fix it as I've tried countless troubleshooting tricks. I already spent money on this CPU and I don't think I can return it. The CPU has no bent pins or anything and the power supply is supporting it i'm sure of. You may need a BIOS update. The CPU could also be dead, though that seems unlikely.

Hey oneblackened, I can't find a BIOS update anywhere for this motherboard. I'm still scouring the internet for something and if you happen to have anything please post it here
