Hello people!
I have a Compaq V6000 that I would like to upgrade the CPU.
Specs:
Motherboard Chipset Model intel i943/940GML
CPU: Intel Celeron M 430 @ 1.73GHz (Yonah 65nm)
RAM: 2,00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 PC2-5300 (333 MHz)

So I tried with 3 processors: Core2Duo T2450, T5450 and T7200 and all 3 do not want to start the laptop.
I only get this flashing light on the mute button and I can't find any documentation on this.

The general recommendation out here would be to save your money and buy a newer laptop, but I love older hardware, so will try and help you out😁

Reading a Maintenance manual on this specific laptop (From HP), it should support the Core2DuoT7200 no problem. Go to page 5–64: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01035886.pdf

It may be a case of just clearing your CMOS. You can do this by unplugging the CMOS battery for around 5-10 minutes, then reinstalling the battery again.

Because you have added new hardware, the system is actually still looking for that Celeron M CPU and is essentially throwing a tantrum because it does not recognise the T7200 as the Celeron.

Clearing your CMOS will allow your system to accept the new hardware. This is especially the case when upgrading hardware on manufacturer PC's (shop-bought)

Hopefully, this image below accurately represents your motherboard layout. The CMOS battery is the circular black thing in the top right-hand corner. This is connected onto the motherboard via a red and black cable. You will need to unplug this if you want to clear your CMOS, then plug it back in after 5-10 minutes:

Hopefully, that might solve it. Let us know how it goes!😎

Thank you for your interest,
I know in the service manual it says it supports the T7200 but it says that these laptops also have different chipsets (945GML / 945PM / 943GM / 940GML)
and my is the 940GML according to Speccy.
Searching the internet I found various posts as if this chipset only supports single core celeron, other have manage to install the T7200
with disabling dual-core option from the bios(using the newest version of bios).
Now I can't find which is the newest bios for my old laptop.

The cmos didn't work with the t2450, i will change it back to T7200 and try it again.

Trying the CMOS reset with the T7200 gave the save error.
After more research on the internet I have realized that my BIOS version was really old (F.02 from 2006) and managed to upgraded to the latest version (F.2E from 2010) which gave me some more option's in the BIOS like a CPU C4 Function (enable/disabled).

After:

Trying with the T7200 with either CPU C4 Function enable or disabled the laptop will start but nothing on the main display or my external monitor.
Swapping back to my M430 the laptop start normaly without any errors.
