My computer run very slow, and hangs when I have multiple browser tabs open and I figured upgrading the RAM should help that.
Researching what to buy however is proving to be rather confusing.
I found a list of qualified vendors and the compatible ram model numbers on the ASUS website, but I'm having trouble finding them on amazon.
Specy says there are two Kingston DDR3 @ 2GB each in two of the slots. It says the DRAM frequency is 668mhz.
I was thinking about either adding two more pairs to the other two open slots, or even replacing the existing pair all together.
For example I found Patriot Signature PSD38G1600K
Would that work? I realize it may not be able to handle the 1600mhz speed, but would that matter? Would it just simply run at the highest speed the board is capable of?
I'm new to upgrading RAM and what not, I just don't want to buy the wrong stick and have to send it back and try another.
From what I've read so far, I may have issues adding in a pair from another manufacturer with different specs.
I don't need anything crazy, but 4GB just doesn't seem to be cutting it right now, so upgrading to at least 8GB should help.
Apologies if this is a basic question, I just don't know enough about all these specs and settings to get a feel for what I need.
