TS 2003 License Issue

Hi,

In a NT 4.0 domain we had a Citrix Metaframe farm with several W2K Terminal
Servers. A couple of these were also TS License Server. We had some TS Cal
deployed.

We then upgraded the domain from NT 4.0 to Windows Server 2003 AD (native
mode now both domain and Forest functional level).

TS License on W2K TS stop working. We installed and activated a TS License
Server on a DC Windows Server 2003.
We issued a GPO with "Prevent License Upgrade Policy" because we had tons of
W2Kpro and WinXPpro clients that access to the Windows 2000 TS-Citrix Farm.

Now i'd like to "move" all our TS Cal's (Windows 2000 per Device TS CAL)
previously registered into Windows 2000 License Servers to the new Windows
Server 2003 TS License Server.
Called up the Clearinghouse but says it was NOT possible. I do NOT want to
upgrade for free those TS Cal to Windows 2003 TS Cal just leave as Windows
2000 TS Cal's.

In the famous (or notorious :) Microsoft whitepaper "Microsoft Windows
Server 2003 Terminal Server Licensing" is well documented that Supported
Licenses for a license server that runs Windows Server 2003 are:
....

- Windows 2000 Terminal Services Client Access Licenses
- Windows 2000 Built-in licenses

Any suggestions or help?

Thanks in advance

As far as I can see, you are completely right!
Since a 2003 Licensing Server can handle both 2000 and 2003 TS
CALs (it even has build-in 2000 TS CALs, just as a W2K Licensing
Server!), you must be able to install W2K licenses on it.

I would phone the Clearinghouse again, and hope that someone else
there answers your call......
