ts vs mp4 format. which is better?

So I got a capture and I was looking into the video format. It has TS and mp4 both H.264+ACC. I would like to know the differences between them. I just know that TS doesnt really work in Sony Vegas Pro 12. If TS is better, is there a way to get it to work in Sony Vegas Pro 12 with converting it to mp4. If I have to convert it, will there be a differences? Im kinda new to this. 😛
