TS2. Quirks and strangeness.

You know me. I have a habit of uninstalling ST2 at the drop of a hat and
putting it all back nice and tidy in the vain hope that THIS time, the game
will run like clockwork.

Well this time I have been very strict. Basic game only, remove all my
downloads sorted into folders - bar one kilt and the colour option thing.
Then slowly, slowly, add and check.
Downloads folder in total 15 meg and all my own recolours. Small. Hacks
three, and the dreaded boolprop.

Everytime I do this something different happens to the game. Last time I
lost a bunch of icons in wants and careers. Then icons in the action stack
started to go blank. I googled for info, became depressed and uninstalled.
have another go at getting a perfect game.

This time everything going well when taxis stopped collecting people on one
lot.
Why??? It's baffling.

Another thing that miffed me off, although I can see why it happens is when
importing a packaged house. I designed a typical 3 bed 1960 style
should-be-a-semi but isn;t. Decorated and furnished it and was daft enough
to use one or two of my own recoloured walls and floors.
Then I saved it as house 1, 2, 3, etc.
Bringing them back into the game resulted in about five copies of my
recoloured decorations appearing in the choices. Bah! Moral. If in doubt,
only package maxi stuff? A bit grim.

NOW, in the furnishings, when i say, ask for a potty and know my own blue
potty is also in there I see two blue potties no red. Clicking without
selecting blue will give me a red though. Never seen this before.

Everytime, something different plays up. - A bit like Windows. 8(

That's going to be to do with the unique numbers for each object - you must
have a duplicate. The thumbnail of the red potty is pulling up the blue
one.

Best wishes

Ah - well, when you open up the menu to see the thumbnails of the potty the
programme calls up a picture (the thumbnail) for you to view. Everything in
the game has an unique number - if you have two things with the same number,
however, (and this can be a problem when creating new objects - usually new
meshes, I think), the game can get them confused and show you one where it's
meant to show you the other. Basically, the red potty object has a
thumbnail associated with it (which is coded in the object file) but somehow
it's showing you the thumbnail of the other potty (which also has a
thumbnail associated with it) instead of the one you are supposed to see.
I'm not sure (because I haven't done it enough times) whether it's the
unique number of each potty that's going to be the same in each case or the
thumbnails. I'm guessing the potty because I'm assuming the thumbnail
picture is contained within the object file. Perhaps if someone else knows
which, they'll let us know. You can probably change this with SimPE but I
probably shouldn't say that to you so I will say find out how to do it
properly before you fiddle about and don't come back here crying about it if
you don't take heed! Either that or put up with two blue thumbnails.

Best wishes
