TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA

Hi,

I have an Advent 8555 GX running windows 7, And have been having problems with the CD/DVD Drive, it is a TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C ATA and after trying to reinstall drivers etc it now kind of works, i.e it only plays certain dvds/ games, yet other dvds are not recognised. I guess it may need replacing but how do check that a replacement would be compatible?
Any help will be much appreciated as (obviously) im quite new to all this.

Looks like it uses a standard SATA slimline optical drive. One such as this should do fine:

You may have to swap the bezel parts from your current drive to the new one, but that is a simple thing to do. Not a hard, nor expensive, change to make.
