Do you really think a newbie is going to go to the effort to find a test
newsgroup? He probably didn't know they exist, much less bother to find
one. It's easier to simply post tests in newsgroups like this, hence
your advice is probably going to fall on deaf ears.

Well, your statement is probably true if you assume the noob is a dipshit.
But if they are merely ignorant, (something that we all are at times) then
alerting them to the fact that test groups exist will hopefully give them a
clue. Hell, someday the noob may even get a real newsreader and dump outlook
express for the POS it is. One can only hope.

I think "Sam" has a clue. I think they're testing propagation of
spam/harvester software. Yeah, that's against every charter in Usenet.
But so what, they're looking to make money off the information they
gather. They don't give a damn about the rules.
