OK, assuming your games start in 1930 with the default TTD vehicle set:
- open the file ttdpatch.cfg in your TTD directory
- find the line that starts with "startyear"
- in that line, replace 1930 by 1950
- save & close

That should fix it.

Note for Josef: this is an example of where the wiki fails do to it's job.
The NewStartingYear page doesn't point to a page explaining how to change
this switch when "Configuration file: startyear\nCommand line: -XY" means
very little to you. Maybe there is one, but I have also found no page with
the default content of ttdpatch.cfg.

That sounds simple... Thanks..I try that.....:-|
But, wait are you saying the reason I only get buses because the start is
1930? More vehicles will be available as the months/years go by... that make
me think of many more questions...

When Josef posted the link to the docs
(http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-view_faq.php?faqId=7#q34), he also considered
the possibility that your games may be starting in 1930. But until you tell
us, there is no way for us to be sure...
Before you start flooding us with questions, I suggest you have another try
with the docs and the FAQ, skipping the parts that "go way over your head".

Hey man you mates are the Tycoons!!...🙂 The game rocks!! like the new
stuff too!!.

Actually I don't have any questions...no wait I do have one. When the music
track reloads the game freezes for a few seconds. What's the fix for that?
Other than that...I'll go back and do more reading.

Two fixes:
- Either disable music from the Setup program (the easiest and usually
safest way, though it does make TTD crash for me...)
- Or get the dxmci.dll, which fixes the problem for most people, and
makes the game crash for some. It works for me.

I *think* dxmci.dll should be at www.ttdpatch.net/src/ but don't hang me
up on it :)
