Hello, i like to leave my pc on during night. But my hard drive is too loud. Louder then my coolers.
Im ok with cooler noise but i cant handle hard drive writing\reading noise.
Is there some option or some trick to keep coolers working but hard drive off for some period?

Hi there zoranjoza,

Is this your primary or secondary drive?

If this is your secondary one, then you may be able to figure out what is accessing the drive and stop it. Some third party tools can do that.
If this is your OS drive though, then I'm afraid it would keep spinning.

In case it makes really loud noises, you can check if there's something wrong with it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
Just back up the data stored on it if you there's something wrong with it.

Isn't there a setting under the power management settings for putting hard drives to sleep after x minutes?

What are you doing with the PC overnight? If you are using a program that reads/write to the hard drive, it will need to stay on and running.

Otherwise try to figure out how to reduce vibrations from the hard drive to the case, high-end cases will have rubber mounts for hard drives, maybe just have it resting on some tissues or something soft?
