Turn off Power Supply at night

Will my power supply or system last longer if I turn the power supply off after shutting down my computer? I already shut it down every night, but would be willing to switch off my surge protector also to completely cut the power at night. Would doing this have any bad consequences, and would it help extend the life of my power supply?

It wont help extend the life at all but it will save you power the power supply keeps a constant 5 volts running thru the motherboard for standby so it will save power but thats about it.

Thanks. I might leave it on, since I'm not the one paying for electricity, and I like having my USB gadgets being able to charge with the computer off.
