Question Turn off track changes Word

This is in Office 2021. Cannot turn it off when the doc is opened.

The setting. You don't have to open a document to open Word. Start Word, change the setting, then open the document.

If that's not the problem, then it would help if you told us the problem!

There is no setting to turn it off. As stated in OP, it always opens to view the changes.

Its my doc. None of MS options turns it off. Finally after three tries, I copied and pasted just a couple of pages into a new doc. Quit Word and it doesn't pop up anymore. But original doc still does it. I was just trying to help someone with their doc, not this one. Ugh.
