Hello, I am NOT tech savey but I should be able to do this. I have a Toshiba L755 laptop with an hdmi port, I'm trying to connect to a Sanyo Plasma TV which has 3 hdmi ports. When I bring up the "screen resolution app", with the hdmi cable connected to the computer and hdmi port 2 on the TV (TV set to port 2) it "can not find a monitor". It will find a VGA monitor when the VGA monitor is plugged in. I see something about a desktop management tool, is there one for Laptops too? The computer uses Windows7 Home Premium. The hdmi cable is new, actually the second one I've tried. The hdmi ports on the TV work, (I plugged the TV cable box into them and they function). Is there some way to test the hdmi port on the computer? Do I need another gadget? I am at a loss and totally stumped.

If you are on Win7, with the cable connected, hold down the windows key on the keyboard and hit P until Show only on Projector is selected, then once the display is on the TV right click the desktop, select Screen Resolution and raise the resolution of the active display to 1080p to match the tv.

HOWEVER.. I would HIGHLY recommend NOT using the TV as a monitor. Plasmas burn in VERY easily, so you could have the image of the taskbar permanently burnt into your screen before too long.

I finally gave up. The HDMI port on the laptop simply does not work. The VGA connection, as I mentioned earlier, does work but the picture quality is poor and the screen brightness on the TV is rather low. If anyone else who is having the same trouble fiqures it out please post their solution back here. Thanks
