Turning laptop into gaming laptop

I'm going to be in another country with not much to do for a month so I'm trying to turn my laptop into somewhat of a gaming rig. I have a 2011 hp elitebook with 8 gb ram and an i5 2520m cpu. I also have a 750ti from my desktop so I'm trying to find a solution, because I don't think I can change the graphics directly. Is there a usb adapter I can use for the 750ti, or any other solutions?

Your talking about a GPU dock, otherwise know as eGPU set ups. To buy reputable brands, they cost alot, normally 300-500. You could build a homebrew version with a riser card/slot and it's a fraction of the cost. Given you have the 750ti already, it's the cheapest way to go about it.

I would just build a desktop and use the 750 ti. Wont cost much if you get used parts. Would save a lot of hassle.

While it is possible to use the GTX 750 Ti, you will need the following items:

1. EXP GDC mini-PCIe GPU dock. Most laptops only have 1 mini-PCIe port which is used by the wifi card. The mini-PCIe port only has a single PCIe lane, so bandwidth is rather limited.

2. A desktop power supply to power the GPU.

3. An external monitor because you will not be able to send the video signal to the laptop's screen.

You are better off simply buying a new laptop if you have the money.
