Question Turning off TV turns off computer monitor connected with HDMI eARC

I have my Sony X85J TV connected to my computer as a secondary monitor with an HDMI cable. The cable is plugged into the HDMI eARC port on the TV because the other 2.1 port is taken by something else. When I turn off the TV the computer monitor also turns off. I can't use the computer unless the TV is also turned on. Even if I turn the monitor on by itself the screen still won't display anything. Anyone know how to turn off the eARC connectivity features so this stops happening? I've tried turning off the "Bravia sync" settings on the TV but that hasn't worked. I haven't found any other relevant settings on the TV.

According to Sony support I need an HDMI cable that doesn't have CEC functionality. Does anyone know if they even make ultra high speed hdmi cables without CEC?

Nvidia support had no idea what I was talking about.
