It is always possible to damage something, but it isn't likely. It also isn't recommended to do that. I might accidentally power toggle it twice but never have done is 7 times. WHY did this happen?
7 times a day means about 2 hours apart. The rule of thumb I have read is that if it is going to be off for less than 4 hours, leave it be. Screen lock it and come back. I let my home computer go to sleep after 30 min, but sometimes that means that the disk has to spin back up. Sleep is low power and much faster than a full power off.

If it is working correctly, then I don't believe you damaged anything. Mechanical hard drives don't like having the power cycled like that. Maybe unplug it from now on when you go to bed....
