Tv as pc monitor?

Right now I'm buying and gathering pc parts for my first gaming station. But I'm currently stuck. At home we have a Tv just laying around. Its actually quite new and basically unused. Would this work as a monitor for my pc or should I just buy a brand new one aimed for gaming?

TV's are good monitors. When my monitor died I used my Telly for 7 months and it worked just fine.
But there are some limitations not visible at first sight.

I've never owned a monitor. I've always used my TV.
