I have my tv connected to pc via hdmi and 5.1 via analog. I only get the choice to use one or the other in control panel. My motherboard (asus z87 pro) sound can do 7.1. Is there any way with this config that i can have all speakers on at the same time?

The tv and pc are nearly 10 metres apart so can't use the supplied green & blue audio cable.

Thanks for any help.

"all speakers at the same time" meaning two channels on your 7.1 system aren't working giving you 5.1 sound? ...or as in you can't get the HDTV speakers to work at the same time as your home stereo receiver? Your motherboard may be able to process 7.1 audio, but if your receiver only supports 5.1 then you will only see 5.1 in the setup / test configuration. You can not output sound to multiple devices as you saw through the control panel.

"I have my tv connected to pc via hdmi and 5.1 via analog"... you are better off with HDMI from PC to HDTV, but then use an optical / digital audio cable to go from the HDTV to your receiver. I.E. use your HDTV to do video switching using the HDMI inputs, and pass through audio to the receiver...

You are complicating things! I didn't mention a receiver. I said my 5.1 speakers are connected to my motherboard through analog, my tv is connected to pc by hdmi. My motherboard has 7.1 audio so why can't all speakers play at same time?

I think i have my answer, my tv is connected through the Nvidia card so is using the Nvidia HD audio drivers and speakers are using the Realtek drivers.
