Tv vs Monitor

I'm putting a new system together for gaming. I was wondering what everyone thought of using a larger Tv vs a monitor considering they are around the same price.

Do not even consider a TV for a gaming rig. It will have a lower resolution, a TV has overscan so your resolution will be even less than rated, and the response is worse.

While I can't speak to whether there's a noticeable difference between the two, I can assure you overscan is not an issue. Overscan applies to broadcast video, CRTs, and rear projection displays in some instances...not LCD TV sets. Both a monitor and TV sized at 1920x1080 have exactly 1920x1080 usable pixels.
