Laptop model: Asus TUF F15
i7-12700H
RTX 4060

Now I'm looking to upgrade the RAM from 16GB since that's falling short of the stuff I want to do (not much, but I'd definitely benefit from more)

Now my laptops' manufacturer site says It supports a max of 32GB but I used the wmic command on cmd and it shows 64GB as max supported, so i was wondering if I should:

1. Swap the 16GB kit for a 32GB kit

OR

2. Swap one 8GB stick and add a 32GB stick to have a total of 40GB

I'd be spending about the same either ways so am curious if I could do the latter.

The command wmic memphysical get maxcapacity is not always accurate because it simply reports the maximum RAM the CPU can support which is not always the same as what the motherboard can support.

As others have recommended, go with option #1.
