What are the pros and Cons of running two GPUs? I have a 580X, Sapphire Nitro Plus, 8GB and can get another for very little. Other than power consumption will the two of them operate properly, and as though I've a 16GB GPU.

Also what over all performance would they operate at? eg... The same as one 6800XT 16gb gpu?

Solution
For things like data processing that use GPUs, you can install two GPUs. Now, you don't get more VRAM since VRAM use is mirrored, but you can get more performance if the software supports it.

For gaming, it's just about worthless. Even in its Golden Age, multi-GPU solutions tended to age poorly. Now, explicit support has basically been dropped by everyone; neither the hardware or software side want to spend valuable resources supporting a niche use that doesn't really work all that well. While there are still games you can sometimes squeeze out a 20-30% boost from a second GPU, more and more often, you get the same performance as a single GPU and in some cases, even worse than a single GPU!
