Two devices on one set of speakers

I want to connect my Yamaha CRX HiFi and my laptop together to the same HiFi speakers but using separate speaker cables but using one device at a time. I have tried them individually, they both work. With my laptop there is a tiny amp that boost the sound on my HiFi speakers. That works too. At the speaker end both cables are bare without banana plugs. At the moment, I am constantly disconnecting set of speaker cables from my laptop and connecting my Hi Fi and vice versa. Can I leave both sets of cables in the back of the speakers and use one device at a time? Both sets of speakers cables have the right amperage for each device.
