Two different graphics cards in SLI

I currently have a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 with 4gb of GDDR5 and I was going to purchase a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC GAMING, ACX 2.0 with 6gb of GDDR5.

I was wondering if I buy the GeForce GTX 1060 that I can put it in SLI with my current GeForce GTX 970.

Sorry for the noob question but I was wondering if it would be a good purchase or just return the GTX 970 and then buy the GTX 1060 or just buy the GTX 1060 and keep GTX 970.

Sadly. you cannot SLI two individual completely different graphics cards. They would have to be the same model number. Say you got two 970's then you can SLI them. However it doesnt have to be the same brand. You could SLI a Gigabyte and Asus GPU as long as they are 970's..... However the GTX 1060 isn't a huge upgrade from the GTX 970. I'd recommend saving your money and making this card what it should be. I recommend overclocking the living heck out of this GPU and maybe look into installing a custom BIOS to help power , heat and overclocking.

Yep No Problem! Have you tried Battlefield 1 with this GPU? Seems like the 970 handles it like cake!
