Two DVI LCDs (1600x1200 and 1280x1024)

I bought a Parhelia 128 thinking that I could support two monitors:
1st) Samsung 213T LCD via DVI @ 1600 x 1200
2nd) Samsung 191T LCD via DVI @ 1280 x 1024

Apparently this does not work. There is a FAQ that hints at this. What happens is that I have to drive the 1600x1200 monitor at 1280x1024 since the card will always max out at the resolution of the smaller monitor.

Does Matrox currently manufacture a card which can do the above? I do *not* wish to drive my 1600x1200 capable display at 1280x1024. I do not wish to drive these monitors non-DVI either.

Perhaps someone can suggest an alternative card that will do the above????

Thank you,
Gavin Stark

It's been a while for me, and actually running with the M, but...

I know that there are two utilities to help with the DVI on the Parhelia. Check their patch downlaod section. One is called something like Parhelia DVI, and the other one is a Display Monitoring tool.

Those are the only ways to get around the 'defaults'

I'll see if I can find them.

OK, <A HREF="http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/files/ftp_util2.cfm" target="_new">HERE</A>'s their tweak page;

<A HREF="http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/files/ftp_util2.cfm" target="_new">http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/drivers/files/ftp_util2.cfm</A>

The utilities are called <i>Monitor Manager</i>, and <i>Utility for Parhelia DVI mode</i>.

This may not solve your problem, not sure , but it does enable more functionality from what I know.
However it may be a hardware limitation of running them both through DVI, and you may be forced to run one through analog mode to allow it to scale down.

BTW, did you try contacting Matrox directly?

There is also a Matrox User Site called MURC here;

They have a forum which might be of help to you as well.

Matrox P650 and P750 can run dual DVI monitors at different resolutions. They cost less, too (but aren't as good for gaming and don't have nearly all the 2D features of the Parhelia). Unless you plan on running a third monitor, get the P650 (<A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?DEPA=1&sumit=Go&description=N82E16814106153&searchdepa=1" target="_new">$155 at newegg</A>).

He already has the Parhelia, and by default they only allow you to run the two DVI ports at the max resolution of the smaller of the two.

I linked to the tweak tools, but I'm not sure if that's one of the tweaks it addresses or not. He may have to run one DVI and one Analogue to get teir native resolutions on both.

The guys at MURC would likely know, and I would think the Support guys for Matrox would also be able to tell for sure (probably a commmon request).

I'm interested in seeing the result of all this. Hopefully he can get an answer and share it with the group.

Oh, I thought he JUST got the Parhelia...I was hinting at him returning it and getting a P650.

I'll dig around a bit and find some color profiles for his monitors and see whether one is actually better in analog than in digital (not rare at all).

I'm sure the guys at MURC and Matrox Support could help him.

Yeah, it would be good to see what the result is--put in the buyers' guide or something.
