Okay here it is. I started off partitioning my 2tb hard drive to use the second partition to backup some of my data so i can format the hard drive without losing my personal data.

I do not have an extra backup drive. i have a 1tb ssd which has about 400 gb free, my 2 tb was actually 800 out of 1.8 tb free. So i shrunk the partition to a 700 gb and 1100 gb one. then moved about 450 gb of stuff from the 1100 gb partition to the 700. I then tried to shrink the 1100 gb partition and it said only 250gb were unallocated. But that would have been enough to finish moving the files i wanted to backup.

I went for it, and had the 250 gb unallocated partition. So I tried to extend the 700 gb one and it wanted to make it a dynamic disk. The only purpose this drive will be for is storage so I did not care. But I guess since it was both extending the partition and converting it to a dynamic disk it instead made two separate drive I's as seen.

I dislike it for my ocd mainly. But after trying to research about dynamic disks nothing gives me what answer i need straight up. I only have new volume i, main drive d and local c in my computer. If i transfer 350gb more of files into new volume I (which would fill more than either partition at this point) will that corrupt or harm the files? Being seperated on partitions. I seen something about raid format doing something like that but that was tieing the partitions from multiple drives together in the process. I am afraid if I format the 250 gb new volume i it would actually format both since it highlights both and doesnt really explain anything.

Solution
First, before you do anything else...obtain a backup drive.
Any manipulation from this point carries significant possibility of deleting all.

Yes, you have the 244GB and 685GB partitions merged and are the I partition.
Don't do that.

You need to copy ALL the data off Disk 1, reformat it into one or two partitions, and then copy the data back.
No Dynamic volume...just regular basic partitions.

Never ever start manipulating partitions without a known good backup.

Figured as much, I will look for one and leave them as is until I back this up. If I only care about files and not installations on the disk 1; do I need to create an image or anything, or is it fine just to move the files and format disk 1, clean it convert to gpt and im good to go?
