Hello,

I have two HDMI monitors that I want to be able to use with two computers without having to do a lot of unplugging. My two systems are as follows:

  • Gaming Desktop PC with several HDMI inputs and several displayport inputs
  • Work Dell Laptop with a usb c and HDMI input (this I only plug in every now and then in normal times, though now it is plugged in all the time since I'm working from home!)

I have all of the cables necessary to connect each of the PCs separately and am trying to minimize what I need to buy. Is an HDMI switch (or rather 2) my cheapest/best bet? Any performance issues with doing this? Other low cost ideas? Trying to avoid using DVI/VGA since I don't have all the cables for those.

Solution
There are a ton of HDMI switches on Amazon, and you can decide how many ports you want. They are quite inexpensive. I have a pair of 27 inch monitors with multiple computers -- I just used the monitor input button to switch between machines when I need and back.
