Hello there. I'm new to Tom's Hardware forums, so go easy on me please.

Well.. I've had this old 'Dell Workstation 490' for quite some time, and I figured that I'd spend a little bit to upgrade it slightly. I'm not made of money, and in all honesty.. I am not particularly interested in a typical Gaming Rig, or anything. I would simply like to hear what you guys here at Tom's Hardware think about using a pair of Intel Xeon E5472's for gaming. The purchase has already been made, so that isn't what I'm asking. What I'd like to know is this:

"Do you think that I can receive decent performance with these processors whilst playing an MMO called RuneScape?"

My current processors are two Intel Xeon 5050's. I get on average, an fps ratio of 10, to 20fps. It's quite terrible to be honest. So I figured updating it would help a bit. Keep in mind that with all other games I play; MineCraft, Sherwood Dungeon, WoW, LoL, and others.. I have excellent performance. Never had any issues with Lagg, or fps of any kind. Only RuneScape has ever given me issues. ..So again, I'm here to ask. What do the Tech Experts here at Tom's Hardware think?

----Edit: I goofed up. I stated that my PC Setup was listed in my signature, but it's not. It was apparently too long, so it was auto-deleted by the profile interface. I'll list it here instead.

I have a Dell Workstation 490 with:

- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

- Two Intel Xeon 5050 Dual-Core Processors @ 3.00GHz (From 2006)

- 16.0GB of Nanya Technology FB-DDR2 @ 166MHz RAM (From 2004)

- A Dell 'Server' Motherboard [Socket 771] (From 2008)

- Two screens; First Screen - Dell UltraSharp 1908WFP 1680x1050 Pixels. (From 2009)
- Second Screen- Dell SE198WFP 1440x900 Pixels. (From 2008)

- An EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB Gfx Card (From 2011)

- And a SAMSUNG HD320KJ ATA 320GB Hard Drive (From 2006)

Solution
Sorry if my answer just forced you to write more stuff. I was referring to "I get on average, an fps ratio of 10, to 20fps". This seems rather low, that's why I asked all this stuff. Make sure your CPUs are not overheating!

As for the straigth and direct answer, I believe you will get decent performance with RuneScape, yes. But even with 2 CPUs, performace would still be half of what today's most recent desktop CPUs can do. But should be good, nevertheless.
Thats a whole bunch of unusual components for a gaming rig, to be honest. Setting up a server to work as a gaming rig can sometimes be tricky, yeah. Sir, please provide the following:

1) your exact PSU model and rated power, and your exact motherboard model
2) your CPU and GPU temps while gaming
3) Your CPU coolers (are they clean, free of dust, installed properly, fans spinning)?
4) Your GPU cooler (is it clean, fans spinning?)
5) Are you gaming on multiple monitors? Because 550 Ti is not suitable for that. Use it to game on one monitor only.
6) What is your PCI-E version and bandwidth (I mean, the connector on your motherboard)? If you don't know, I can try finding out from the motherboard model, if you provided it under question 1
7) Your exact memory model and frequency, because I can't believe it is 166 MHz...
Thanks!

EDIT: Is this your exact (base) configuration?

EDIT: Here, I created an Imgur Album with screenshots of Speccy, for each thing you asked for since the Forums doesn't like to keep the formatting I gave my text. It's a complete mess. So here: http://imgur.com/a/jDJWW

Please keep in mind that I am NOT asking for an answer to a solution, or issue, or anything. I simply asked if you think I can get decent performance on RuneScape with my new processors I ordered. Everything that you asked for has absolutely no relevance to my question.

I'm not running a server. I very clearly stated that I have a Dell Workstation 490. It is a 'Tower' desktop with everything a normal Desktop PC would have.

...lol. I don't wish to be rude, but everything that I stated is exactly what it is. And yes. Obviously my ram is 166Mhz. I'm not sure what makes that difficult for you to understand.

1) your exact PSU model and rated power, and your exact motherboard model
My power supply is a Dell n750p-00; rated at 750w.
Technical Specs of Motherboard:

Manufacturer Dell Inc.
Model 0DT031 (Microprocessor)
Chipset Vendor Intel
Chipset Model 5000X
Chipset Revision 12
Southbridge Vendor Intel
Southbridge Model 6321ESB
Southbridge Revision 09

2) your CPU and GPU temps while gaming
I have no way of knowing what the Temp of my CPU is, without installing some kind of internal thermometer.
My GPU however; floats around 60c.

3) Your CPU coolers (are they clean, free of dust, installed properly, fans spinning)?
Obviously, yes.

4) Your GPU cooler (is it clean, fans spinning?)
..Yes.

5) Are you gaming on multiple monitors? Because 550 Ti is not suitable for that. Use it to game on one monitor only.
I only use it to game on one Monitor. The other one I use for watching movies/posting on forums etc.

6) What is your PCI-E version and bandwidth (I mean, the connector on your motherboard)? If you don't know, I can try finding out from the motherboard model, if you provided it under question 1
..Err.. here, I'll just copy-paste what Speccy says:

7) Your exact memory model and frequency, because I can't believe it is 166 MHz...
I'm not sure why you can't believe that, but here:

In answer to your Edit... yes, and no. I have that Case, the motherboard, PSU, Heatsinks, and RAM. But the Gfx card, and CPU's are different.

Solution

No, it's fine. But thank you for responding directly this time.

I did indeed state I was getting 10 - 20fps, but look at it in it's full context:

I said that I only get 10 - 20fps in RuneScape. It is the only game that gives me lagg issues.
And um... I decided to do a little digging while I waited for your reply, and I found a few sites comparing the E5472's to i5's, and i7's. One in particular got my attention: http://cpuboss.com/cpu/Intel-Xeon-E5472

It's score is saying that it is easily on par with the Core i7 2600k, and the Core i5 3570. So I guess I made a decent decision when I bought them. Thank you for your responses.
