Just finished my build today. Is it possible to have one monitor hooked up to the GPU and another to the motherboard? I want my main display (for gaming) to be hooked up to the GPU and older monitor to the motherboard (for misc. and media). Is it possible to do this?

My new monitor is hooked up to my Gigabyte GTX 970 via HDMI and older monitor hooked up to motherboard via VGA. Unfortunately the GPU does not provide slots for a VGA cable shown here: http://i.imgur.com/BRfVM6h.png. So, is it possible for dual monitors but from different sources or do I need to purchase a DVI cable to source both monitor cables from the GPU?

Just use the graphics card for both.
Simpler and it will not effect performance at all.

You will just need one of the below adapters that cost like 2$. Most graphics cards get shipped with a free one.

So there is absolutely no way to go dual monitor from two different sources? They have to be from the same source?
