Need to hook up 2 vga monitors to a win 7 pc. The pc only has one vga port. But it has a hdmi port. Not for gaming, just work.

I tried the 2nd monitor setup through a vga to hdmi cable but it just sits there black with "check signal cable."

2nd monitor is an lg2241

Tried:

- multiple re-boots
- downloaded a driver from LG but don't see that it did any kind of install. Double clicking it's zip file opened it and clicking on the three files did nothing but open gibberish code.
- at screen resolution I see multiple displays and I have it set on extended.
- Clicked detect and identify
- #2 says display device on vga
- tried unplugging and reconnecting the cable (hdmi to vga)

What if I use this cable:
http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Adapter-Converter-Laptop-NoteBook/dp/B007PLL4CK/ref=cm_cd_al_qh_dp_i

which I believe would connect to the hdmi out on my pc and I would then connect a vga cable to that and run it to monitor #2.

Would that work? Is there a better method for connecting two vga monitors to a pc that just has 1 vga out, 1 hdmi and a few usb?

You'll be much better off buying a branded product for a bit more, since it is almost certain that it will work, unlike the many generic ones that are very fiddly, or just plain refuse to work (like your cable.). Something like this will get the job done:

http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters%C2%AE-Gold-Plated-Active-Adapter/dp/B00879DM56/ref=pd_sim_147_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=1BWJQD10XX0HC81RZ44B

Yes, it does look similar to the one you posted, but remember, this is a form of DAC, and so the quality of the chip and circuit inside often affects the quality or even compatibility of the adapter.

OK, but you believe that will allow me to do dual monitor in extended screen mode then with two monitors showing different on my pc?

Thanks,
Dave

Are you using integrated graphics? If so, what model processor do you have? If not, what is the model of your graphics card?

Sorry I really don't don't know what "using integrated graphics" is.

I believe the card is an intel hd. I pulled that from device mgr and display adapters.

I just use this in a small business. I want to be able to have one monitor on firefox and another on side projects like photoshop etc.

I have to multi task like a bandit all day long.
