Hi,

I recently acquired a LCD monitor in addition to the CRT that I
already have. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a graphics
cards that will allow me to have dual displays on the monitors. I
don't need the top of the line but a card. Something from NVIDIA or
ATI? Although I heard ATI is not very reliable.

I use Nvidia Quadro based PNY card at work, ATI 9600 dual VGA (non DVI) at
home.
They both work very well. If you are using linux, you may have to google to
find the correct configuration settings.

Assuming you already have an AGP video card, it is also possible to just add
a PCI video card.
Before I upgraded my home system's video card, I was using NVidia GeForce2 &
ATI AIW Radeon PCI.

My video setup:

ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256MB AGP retail
DV-I: Monitor #1 Samsung SyncMaster 213T Black 21.3" TFT 1600x1200
32bit 60Hz (native)
VGA: Monitor #2 ViewSonic P225f 22" Aperture Grille CRT 1600x1200
32bit 85Hz
TV OUT: S-video to 36" Sony Wega XBR-400 1024x768 32bit 60Hz NTSC

WinXP HE SP1
Asus P4T533-C s478/i850e
P4 2.8b\1GB OCZ PC1066 RIMMs

I find the 9800XT very reliable. Just as I did the ATI Radeon 9700
Pro I used before it.
Before going to ATI, I was a long-time user of Matrox cards.
Spoiled for reliable hardware, stable drivers and excellent visual
results.
I don't feel I've lost anything by changing to ATI. I have gained
better 3D performance.
