Two operating systems?

Hi,

lately I changed my os from w7 to w8.1, but I seem to get random stutters in games (DayZ SA, BF4 etc.) and even in my web browser. Someone told me that the case might be me having the old operation system on the same HDD, which means that I'm currently running two operating systems whatsoever. Just to make sure, I wanted to check out if that's true, but I didn't manage to find out how.
So could anyone tell me how to see if I have two operating systems or just one?

No, you can't have 2 OSs running at the same time. At most, you'll have a folder called Windows.old, containing most of your old stuff. But that is just sitting there, doing nothing.
