Hi everyone. I'm sorry if this isn't the right thread and if so, please feel free to remove it.
Please bear with me for this is a little long...
I'm in a bit of a conundrum here. Last monday I decided to do a clean up on the computer. Took out GPU and used a brush to remove dust. Put all back together, hit the power button and nothing happened. Started taking components out to see if there was any sign of life, but again nothing happened. Took out the PSU to jump and see if there was any life in it. Jumped pins 16 and 17, no fan spinning, no noises, no power on other pins so I decided that that PSI was dead and bought a new one. Put the new one in the chassis, connected everything and... Dead again. At this point I was slightly desperate, but was determined to test whatever I could to eliminate other possibilities. Took the PSU from the chassis and did the jump test shorting pins 16 and 17... Nothing. Shorted pins 16 and 15... Still nothing. 16 and 24... Nada. At that moment I thought it was rare and weird a dead on arrival PSU to the point that I was considering having shorted the wrong pins or something, so was searching the interner and landed on the seasonic site where there were instructions to jump their lines of PSUs. One such instruction was to short pins 16 and 3 which I did and the PSU came to life. So I thought "of course it came to life. I hooked up a fan to a molex". Kept the fan connected and tried pins 16 and 17, but nothing happened. Reconnected the PSU to the MoBo with the fan connected to a fan header... No sign of life again. So here is where I think I stand: either my MoBo killed some part of two PSUs or my MoBo is dead and the previous PSU was in good/working condition and I threw it in the bin for no reason.
I would very much appreciate if someone could enlighten me on this one. Should I RMA the PSU because is dead/defective or keep it and get me another MoBo?
