Two question about DVI

Just got a Samsung SyncMaster 2333 monitor that has vga and dvi inputs. Two questions:

1.) I only have a vga cable. Is DVI better enough to warrant getting a dvi cable instead.

2.) If I go with DVI, can I use a dvi to hdmi adapter to use the hdmi port on my graphics card (so I can open up my vga port for my secondary monitor).

Solution
DVI - Digital Video Interface.

Yes, it's digital. For the record, I'm using an DVI to HDMI cable from my HTPC to my projector. I should state, however, that I've never go the other way (HDMI to DVI). It should work, but I've just never tried it.

Would DVI to hdmi work? I previously tried a vga to hdmi adapter but that wasn't recongnized as vga was analog going into a digital hdmi port. Is DVI a digital signal?

Thanks I'll give it a try. Should have gotten a monitor with hdmi input but I got this one for $59 which is a steal for a 1080p monitor so I couldn't pass it up.
