Two questions

Hello I would like answers to too questions I am wondering if I can run a nvidia 6200 256mb with a 250 watt psu I am using a p4 with 2 gig of ram and windows xp the card is a pci normal not express. The next question is if I can't run the 6200 what's the next best option? A pci (not express) that works with a standard dell 250 watt psu. I won't but a new pus sp doint suggest it please. Thank you in advance

To put you at absolute ease, i will straight up tell you, that YES you can run it just fine and with no problem, BUT before you go off and buy it you have to know that the nvidia 6200 you want is AGP which is not compatible with PCI. Lucky for you, i found the perfect match for yours:

no you cant run the 6200 with a 250w Power supply. it needs atleast a 300w psu

the only thing you can do is get a 300w power supply or higher.

I read that the 6200 needs at least a 300w power supply so i would say no, But if 123456 say yes, He might have tried it or know someone who has so.....

im pretty sure the 6200 isn't a power hog and im sure that it probably doesn't need past 50W full load, for example im running a geforce 210 on a 250W psu and it's requirements were at least a 350W psu so it will work, trust me, i have experience with this problem

well if it worked for you its great but in my case I tried that and it blew my psu, When i put in a higher psu it worked fine,

think of it like this Cian97, Try it out and if it works, Great stuff and if it doesn't get a higher w Psu

Yeah that would work, i mean im still running that card as i type and i have for about 5 months now, but yeah i highly recommend you try it, and if it fails, im sure your pc wont explode

lol true, But just for a final note my power supply did explode! No damage to the other hardware at least. i was just playing a game and the next second my psu started to explode, It sounded like gunfire! It was kind of funny but im sure it wouldn't happen to you Cian.

a 250 - 300w psu isn't so expensive so whats the risk of trying?

Well we know its not expensive at all but OP said he/she won't buy a new psu, and if he/she doesn't want to then we shouldn't make him want one. He/She only wants to know whether it will work or not, and my answer was YES!

lol only after i read my last post did i realize i sounded like a d***** haha, no i respect your opinion, what i meant was that the OP said he wasn't going to buy a psu so i tried not to bring that problem up, and if you look at the card's specs it doesn't draw almost any power at all so im pretty sure it will work. I mean i'm running a 350W card on an old 3-4 year stock dell psu.

I think the psu i had was just a piece of ***! was just a ticking time bomb just waiting to go up, So cian just go with it, If 12345690 didn't have a problem with power Then ill say you are safe! I think I just got my intel a bit scrambled..
