Hello my dear forum members,
My name is Chris. Before asking my question i would like to ask you to ignore my poor english for I am not a native english speaker.
Thank you for your understanding.
Now, my dilemma is that i have two routers and no clue which one to use for my home networking.
1. Belkin Surf+ N300 (F7D2301 v1)
2. CISCO LinkSys E1000
My network will consist of: - a desktop computer (M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 motherboard) - wired
- a NAS D-Link 320L - wired
- a laptop - wireless
- a tablet PC - wireless
- probably a smartphone - wireless
- an eventual guest laptop from time to time maybe - wireless
The NAS is mainly for my video files that i would like to access from my desktop and laptop (maybe the tablet as well).
I should mention that most of the video files are HD, so I'm guessing that it will matter when streaming to laptop.
I will not play LAN games or any other high speed demanding applications on the network.
My main interest is the accessing the NAS in good conditions and have good internet speed on all my devices.
By the way the internet connection is going to be 60 MBs fiber.
The range of the router is irrelevant for my situation because it's a rather small location.
Ofcourse i tried to document myself before bothering everybody with my question, but it's kind of difficult to do that when you don't understand much of this networking terminology.
So far i understand that the CISCO does not have 10/100/1000 LAN ports. And some sites state that Belkin has them, and some sites that it does not. Belkin support is useless, I think that for them a discontinued product does not deserve any attention or support anymore. That might be a thing to consider in making this decision of mine.
Anyway.... if that 10/100/1000 port that i wrote was plain stupid i do apologize, again i don't understand much of this matter.
Please my good friends, help me in making this choice of routers to install.
If any additional information is needed for any of you to make the choice more obvious for me I will gladly give it.
Thank you and thank you again for your time reading this and for your much appreciated help that will come from this.
Again apologies for my bad english.
