Two sticks of ram running in single channel

Today I opened up cpuz and noticed my ram is running in single channel for some reason. It never did this before and it was giving abysmal performance in Intel Burn Test. A run with max ram was taking over 5 minutes to complete and I was scoring around 40 Gflops. My processor is at 4.2ghz but when i restore to default settings in the bios, I still got similar performance. The ram is installed in the 2nd and 4th slot away from the processor like it said to do in the motherboard manual. I've tried updating the bios and that didn't help and played around with different settings in the bios screen.

Do you have CPU-ID installed, if so is your computer still registering both sticks of ram? cause if its not could either be a dead ramstick or a dead slot, you might want to try change the slots they are in just to test them out, if problem persists, install 1 ram stick at a time and start it up and check each stick of ram, i use MaxxMEM2 its great for seeing how well you ram is going, and how it improves when you oc them!

Yes I have it installed and that's what I have been using. My computer is recognizing both sticks of ram but for whatever reason it is running it in single channel. I haven't tried resetting the ram, or running each stick individual since I haven't noticed any issues from it. But it's just strange since before it was registering as dual channel and now it doesn't.

Hmmm could possibly be something in either Bios or board then. Only thing i can think of is possibly a bios update? but its seems very odd that it stopped working in dual channel! im not the most tech savvy person when it comes to board architecture. its the only possible explanation i can think of, cause i assumed you have tried doing a CMOS reset(not just resetting in bios, but resetting the whole board) and turning Dual channel back on, and even trying the dual channel in the other set of slots? other than that if bios update doesn't solve it, to me it looks like the board maybe shot.

sorry if my options can't help you but i have found sometime discussing whats wrong with someone else will make you think of the solution!

My bios is updated to the most recent version (F18i), in fact i think this happened after i updated my bios. I'm not sure if it matters but i didn't reset my settings to default when i updated it. I guess I will try the resetting cmos jumper and testing the ram in different slots.
