Ok, so, I was looking at this article here:
http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2122665/understanding-temperature-amd-cpus-apus.html
And it happened to show AMD OverDrive, and I knew that I had saw the option in Catalyst Control Center. However, when I went to it in Catalyst Control Center, this is what I saw:
Now, since my version in CCC is obviously different, and I have searched Google for the stand-alone download and only got one option which was wrong, where am I supposed to get that? Is it even a thing anymore? On the one I found to download, the chipset versions it said it was compatible with aren't mine. My chipset is A88X(Bolton D4) but this is the list it supports:
AMD OverDrive™ utility supports the following chipset models:
AMD Hudson-D3
AMD 990FX
AMD 990X
AMD 970
AMD 890FX
AMD 890GX
AMD 890G
AMD 790FX
AMD 790GX
AMD 790X
AMD 785G
AMD 780G
AMD 770
My CPU and motherboard are:
CPU: Athlon X4 860K @4.3GHz
Mobo: ASRock A88XFM2+ BTC
Now, the version of AMD OverDrive they showed in the article seems like it's very useful, and if it IS still available, I would like to use it. Anybody know if there is a newer version that supports my chipset and has a link to it? Or am I out of luck?
P.S.
I wasn't sure what category to put this under, so I just selected motherboard.
I should also make a quick note that, instead of recommending other temperature reading programs, that's entirely out of the question. There's a thread I posted awhile back talking about how Speccy, HWMonitor, CoreTemp, etc all showed WILDLY different temperatures. So OverDrive's what I'm looking for.
